Educational Requirements:
∎ Master's degree (preferably a Ph.D) or equivalent academic qualifications in any one of the subjects in social science, community development, water resource management, environmental sciences, public health, or disaster risk reduction.
Experience Requirements:
∎ At least 10 year(s)
Job Responsibilities:
∎ The Documentation Specialist will be responsible to identify the impacts on livelihoods of disadvantaged ethnic citizens due to expansion of mango orchards.
∎ To assess the need of alternative livelihoods suitable for them with the changed situation.
∎ Gather secondary data and information on the disadvantaged ethnic citizens living in the project areas and their ownership, access to prime means (such as land, machine, water resources, other equipment) and products (crops, orchards) of agriculture as well as their and nature of participation in agriculture.
∎ Draw changed situation in agriculture land use and cropping considering project inception as the base year.
∎ Identify impacts on the life of landless ethnic citizens in relation to livelihoods, employment and income; caused by the changes in agricultural land use and cropping pattern;
∎ Find coping strategies of impacted population groups to mitigate negative effects on their livelihoods, employment and income; and
∎ Detect social-cultural consequence of coping strategies.
∎ • Ascertain aspirations and visions of landless ethnic citizens for their livelihoods, employment and income;
∎ Determine community suggested feasible ways / strategies and their priorities in mitigating negative effects as well as protecting and promoting livelihoods and employment opportunities.
∎ Pinpoint challenges and barriers faced by the landless ethnic citizens in employing feasible priority strategies that need to be addressed; and
∎ Assess feasibility of conservation agriculture, especially conservation agriculture with trees /orchard.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at least 45 years
∎ Both males and females are allowed to apply
∎ Shall have experience of facilitating community organizations in water management, WASH, rural development and local governance, disaster risk reduction with experience in Bangladesh and understanding of Barind region.
∎ Aware about relevant acts, rules, policies of the government of Bangladesh and local government supportive to equitable water resource governance, IWRM as well as organizations and actors involved; especially in the context of Barind area.
∎ Aware about the demographic situation of disadvantaged ethnic citizens in Barind areas and special issues facing them for their wellbeing and development.
∎ Experience and skill in designing and needs assent for development projects involving participatory methodology.
