Job Context:
∎ Arannayk Foundation (AF) is a not-for-profit organization devoted to forest and biodiversity conservation in Bangladesh since 2003. It has been implementing the Activity-2 of the USAID`s COMPASS Project entitled, "Chittagong Hill Tracts Communities` Forest Landscape Restoration" in Bandarban under an award of international cooperative agreement with the USDA Forest Service, International Programs (USFS-IP). The project focuses on restoration and enhancement of ecosystem services of the degraded forest landscape in Rowangchari Upazila of Bandarban hill district for sustainable livelihood and wellbeing of local communities. The major activities of the project include identification of the degraded areas; planning of restoration options for the different categories (land-use and land-cover classes) of degraded lands through a participatory but science-based methodology; demonstration of the restoration options (improved land-use practices) and additional income generating activities; and capacity building of the local communities for such development in a sustainable manner.
∎ The basic function of the position is to work in a team to implement the field activities, achieve the objectives and provide the deliverables of the project as per work plan developed by AF for Compass Activity 2 and the provisions of the award signed between AF and USFS. He or She will take part in developing program strategies, approaches, methodologies and implementation process of the relevant component of Arannayk Foundation. The key responsibilities of the position will include but not be limited to -
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Coordinate with technical and management teams of the project as necessary;
∎ Collect and consolidate information from the field and share with the management team of AF and USFS;
∎ Prepare necessary documentations for training, seminar and workshop including community dialogues/meetings such as questionnaires, modules and reports etc.;
∎ Assist in developing strategies and operational guidelines for effective and efficient implementation of the project;
∎ Assist in developing and implementing communication strategy and work plan, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) plan; and staff capacity building plan for the project;
∎ Monitor project implementation by the field team, document lessons learned and challenges faced and suggest for undertaking follow-up measures;
∎ Assist in consolidating and preparing the technical progress reports of the project;
∎ Facilitate management staff, consultants, donor visits and other missions relating to the project;
∎ Maintain electronic databases of the project as required;
∎ Ensure that project achievements, lesson learned and significant events are adequately recorded and shared with appropriate audience. Write and encourage others to prepare blog post and website content on project activities, events and learning;
∎ Ensure effective monitoring of planned project activities to meet targets and timeline as per donor requirements;
∎ Prepare high-quality narrative/ progress reports, bi-weekly & monthly reports, project completion reports and develop innovative project ideas as required;
∎ Ensure that Arannayk Foundation's and donors brand values are maintained to strengthen good will and credibility in line with organizational values, mission and vision;
∎ Perform any other duties/tasks as assigned by the Executive Director of AF;
∎ This position will be based both at the Arannayk Foundation headquarter in Dhaka (40%) and project office in Bandarban (60%) with necessary field visits to working sites. S/he will be reportable to and be evaluated on the performance by the Executive Director of AF. The Senior Program Officer of AF also designated as the Senior FLR Specialist of the Project with Compass C2/FLR Lead will also provide supervision and guidance in planning, designing, strategy development & any other technical advisory support required for execution of activities.
Additional Requirements:
∎ At least 4 years relevant working experience in national or international NGO on Forest Conservation or Natural Resources Management;
∎ Strong experience in working with rural communities;
∎ Strong coordination and management skills;
∎ Good skills on advocacy, liaison and networking;
∎ Strong Organizational Development skills for the grass root people;
∎ Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
∎ Working experience with Bangladesh Forest Department and other Government Departments
∎ Ability to work with a diverse team and willingness to work under pressure;
∎ Written and verbal efficiency in both Bengali and English;
∎ Good computer literacy, presentation skills, both oral and written;
∎ GIS/RS skills will be an added advantage;
Salary: Tk. 90000 - 100000 (Monthly)
