Job Context:
∎ Arannayk Foundation (AF) is a not-for-profit organization devoted to forest and biodiversity conservation in Bangladesh since 2003. It has applied for a fund under the USAID Local Works Bangladesh Activities to undertake a project on conservation and rehabilitation of forests/tree cover in Ukhia, Cox`s Bazar, where massive deforestation and degradation of forests have taken place due to the influx of the forcibly displaced Myanmar nationals (Rohingya). The project will mainly focus on sustainable livelihood development of the affected poor people in the host communities through technical skills and market linkage development for diversified income generating activities and on capacity development of local institutions on forest conservation. The project is expected to start from April 2020 and its duration will be 3 (three) years.
∎ Duty Station: Ukhiya, Cox`s Bazar.
Job Responsibilities:
∎ Subject to the donor's approval of the proposed project, the AF intends to hire one 'Technical Officer (Forestry)' for the same. The main tasks for this position would be, but not necessarily limited to, the following:
∎ Prepare technical guideline and session plan on forest and biodiversity conservation issues for FFS sessions under the guidance of Livelihood Specialist, Field Coordinator and Project Coordinator
∎ Train and guide Field Facilitators (FF) and Community Development Volunteers (CDV) in conducting FFS and other training sessions on forest and biodiversity conservation issues
∎ Train private nursery owners and their association leaders on technical and organizational development and management (ODM) issues, respectively
∎ Plan and implement activities for the strengthening of the services of the Nursery Information and Coordination Center (NICC) of Arannayk Foundation
∎ Organize training courses on Protected Area Rules and Co-management practices for CMC leaders and frontline staff of BFD
∎ Maintain close linkage with Divisional, Range and Beat level officers of Bangladesh Forest Department (BFD) and with Upazila Nursery Owners
∎ Monitor performance of, and problems facing, the private nursery owners and their Upazila and district level associations and advise them about necessary measures
∎ Collect monitoring data and photographs, analyze data and prepare project reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) on assigned project activities
∎ Perform any other task within the purview of the project plan as assigned by the Field Coordinator, Project Coordinator or Project Director.
Additional Requirements:
∎ Age at most 35 years
∎ At least 03 (three) years' relevant working experience, especially involving close collaboration with BFD officials
∎ Experience on capacity building of forest co-management organizations (CMO) and/or nursery owners' associations will be preferred
∎ Skills in common Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
∎ Proven skills in data analysis and report writing.
Salary: Tk. 48000 - 52000 (Monthly)
Compensation & Other Benefits:
∎ The gross monthly salary for the position will be within the range of Tk 48,000 - Tk 52,000. In addition, festival bonus will be provided which is equivalent to one month's salary per year.
